Joy A Plenty secured another victory in the TAB Class 4 Handicap over 1200 metres at Ipswich on April 6, rewarding connections after a string of consistent performances leading into the race. Having recorded a win and two second placings from her previous four starts, the mare entered the contest as one of the more fancied runners in a competitive field of ten—and she justified that confidence in style.

Jumping cleanly from the gates, jockey Cody Collis showed patience early, allowing speed horses from wider draws to press forward while he settled the daughter of Heroic Valour in a comfortable position. Travelling fifth, three back along the fence, Joy A Plenty enjoyed a smooth run throughout the early and middle stages. Approaching the home turn, Collis began to build momentum, easing her off the rail to secure clear running and ensuring she had every opportunity to finish off strongly.

Upon straightening, Joy A Plenty balanced up nicely, and once asked for her effort inside the final 200 metres, she responded impressively. Letting down with purpose, she quickly reeled in the leaders and surged to the front, ultimately securing victory by a long neck in a determined finish.

The win marked career victory number five from just 20 starts, lifting her strike rate to an impressive 25%. Given her current vein of form and consistency, Joy A Plenty appears to be a mare on the rise, and it would be no surprise to see her add further success in the near future.

Congratulations go to all the owners on a well-earned and exciting victory.
