Wax On Wax Off provided a fitting finale to the Kilcoy meeting, taking out the Colts and Geldings BM 0–58 over 1200 metres in the last race of the day — and proving well worth the wait for his connections. The progressive three-year-old son of Sensei has helped deliver his owners a strong start to 2026, now boasting two wins from just five starts this calendar year, along with a solid second placing at Rockhampton that hinted at more success to come.

A key factor in his development has been the growing partnership with jockey Cody Collis, who continues to get the best out of the gelding. Collis has now ridden Wax On Wax Off in six of his nine career starts, producing two wins, two placings, and a close-up fourth — a record that highlights the consistency and understanding building between horse and rider.

At Kilcoy, that combination was on full display. Collis had Wax On Wax Off rolling freely in front, controlling the race from the outset before asking for an effort approaching the 300-metre mark. The response was immediate, as the gelding put a decisive gap on his rivals, straightening for home in the short Kilcoy straight with a clear two-length advantage. While the official margin was recorded at 2.81 lengths, it arguably could have stretched beyond three, with the pair able to ease down late and still cruise comfortably through the line.

The victory pushes his career prizemoney to just shy of $50,000, and given the form he is currently in, there is every indication that figure will continue to climb in the months ahead. Wax On Wax Off is clearly a horse on the rise, and with his confidence high and his partnership with Collis strengthening, further wins look well within reach.
